I’m launching a podcast

Yes, I'm doing so. I’m spreading my voice all over your phones and computers. Below you can find answers to the question of why/how/what is this….

Why?

First things first, why I’m doing this? Simply because I get too many questions about my role, how to Join Google, what does it mean to work in Cloud…Especially from Junior IT professionals or today students going to be soon in the job market people.

Instead of tweeting, blogging, or answering these questions live. I decided podcasts are the way to go, it’s the easiest way for me to persist some info on the internet and share it (all other means require too much work and I’m a lazy person). I’m not only doing that, but I’m also opening up my network of people with whom I worked or who I meet during my career.

What is this about?

First the name, the podcast is called “The Cloud Careers Podcast”. I will be interviewing people working directly or indirectly (more on this below) in the Cloud Space. We will feature a guest per episode, I will ask them about their careers, education, background, and how they got where they are today. We will also discuss the news and get some inspiration from them. I will also ask them your questions (See the last paragraph). We will aim to have fun and learn a thing or two.

My mains goals behind this project are:

  • Showcase what people are doing in terms of Jobs, what’s possible out there, what’s the market is about and what does it mean to be in a specific role.
  • Bust the myth that studying computer science → developers (or that you even need a degree to be in CS). I personally studied Software development but never worked as a developer. I just want to show you what’s possible.

What do you mean by directly or indirectly?

Since I worked in 3 companies and 3 countries so far and have met people from all backgrounds, working on different things, my network is very diverse, but to make it easy to understand what I mean by this, here is a little breakdown:

  • Directly means people working with a Cloud provider (Google, AWS…) or people working in companies using these Cloud platforms (think Spotify, Snapchat…)
  • Indirectly means people working in Jobs we would not at a first glance associate with Cloud but they are the main contributor or a foundation that makes Cloud happen. So think datacenter jobs, marketing, sales…

What to expect?

I’m not going to commit to a release schedule, I will do my best to keep them coming but if I miss a week or two please understand that I'm doing this as a side hustle, I have a main job :)

Where to find more?

Few places all over the internet:

How can you help?

You can contribute by sending me questions I could ask our guests, think of the stuff you want to learn about(advice, salaries, interviews…), and send them to me on cloudcareerspodcast@gmail.com.

Also if you want to be a guest on the podcast or you know someone who could be a good guest, contact me on cloudcareerspodcast@gmail.com
