We do have support for Cloud Run Mesh. Where a Cloud Run Service could talk to a Mesh over mTLS. The other way around (from the Mesh to Cloud Run) is not supported yet, but i guess it will be coming soon https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/cloud-run-mesh
Also Cloud Run and GKE + Mesh are not the only options. The way I see it is the following:
Fire and forget --> Cloud Run
More flexibility --> GKE Autopilot
Power horse with all the tuning nobs --> GKE standard.
